Personal Summary
My name is Austin Hamm. I was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. I am majoring in Exercise Science at Indiana University Indianapolis. I am a very dedicated follower of Christ and try each and everyday to be more like him. I am currently a personal trainer and a health and wellness advisor at the Young Men's Christian Association. An important experience that I had that I believe really shaped my life was during my sophomore year of high school. My head coach for basketball approached me one day and told me that I am not an athlete, and I will never be one. It broke me down at the time but it made me realize that his opinion does not define me or what my future holds. Another significant event was when I was baptized at my church by my father Matthew Hamm, my pastor TJ Knowland, and a close friend that really helped me get closer to Christ named David Young. It was a major impact for me because it really changed my way of thinking. It made me realize that I just wanted to bring and spread Jesus' love to everyone around me, no matter what I am doing.

Sports
Sports, specifically basketball, are important to me because I enjoy playing them so much and they are a key part to my career plans.

Being a Christ follower is very important to me because it gave life meaning for me.

My family and friends are very important to me because I would do anything to make sure they are safe and well.
Significant Learning Experiences
IUI Bridge Week
Bridge Week here at IUI was a big learning experiences for me because I came to school the first day of the week and had no idea on what to expect college to be like. By the end of the week, I was able to meet a lot of different students, most of my professors, and what college is generally about.
YMCA Personal Training
I gained a position as a certified Personal Trainer at a YMCA and it was a good learning experience because it was my first taxed job that I have ever had and it was a good way to gain an early experience of what I plan to do as a career.
Men's Discipleship Group
My pastor offered me a position to lead a group of high school men about growing up as a man and still being a disciple of Jesus. This was a big learning experience for me because I have the opportunity to teach them and lead these young men into growing up in this world. While I do lead them, I also am able to improve myself as well, as a person and as a disciple.
